Description

An attempt at painting with more detail here, with a raven as the chosen subject. I added a misty mountain in the background for some spectacle and drama! ;)

This was painted in acrylic on a 51 x 26 cm canvas frame.

The composition of this painting is beautiful, and is appropriate for the title. The eye is drawn first to the raven and peak, and the two mirror each other. The raven is seen only from the shoulders up, and dominates the foreground much like a mountain. Then you look up and an actual peak dominates the background.

The way you filled the space between the two main components is wonderful, and the misty effect does add a sense of anticipation and adventure. The other ravens in the distance reinforces the title and theme of this painting, giving more meaning to the words "raven peak." It looks like a land where these birds are prominent.

It is outstanding that you arranged the details of scenery to highlight the raven and peak, giving them yet more gravity. The other ravens form an arch over the subject. Meanwhile, the peak is framed by the valley's curved rim of mountains. The raven has its scenery of forest, and the peak has its scenery of clouds. The two levels of this painting mirror each other so well, with a neat vertical symmetry.

Apart from the composition, the skill in this work is also evident. I particularly like the way you painted the feathers, trees, and sky, as well as how you textured the mist.
